Every single day is a chance to work towards our personal growth and create a life we are happy about. Far too often, we get so caught up on what other people are doing, comparing our lives to others and not focusing enough on what we want for ourselves.
Although this is a common train people jump on, it doesn’t make it a safe one and surely doesn’t bring us to the destination we want. Focusing on everyone else’s lives while putting our own on the back burner doesn’t leave much space or energy to truly focus on improving our own life.

Do What Makes You Happy
What makes you happy? I mean truly happy, and I mean YOU. Not your mom, not your spouse, not your bestfriend. What makes YOU happy? It’s a bit of a loaded question, if you really think about it, but it can also be quite simple too when you narrow it down to just yourself and your wants. Find out what it is, and go get it.
Don’t Be Afraid To Say No
Saying “no”, oddly, can be extremely difficult at times. That’s because we’re either afraid of upsetting someone or are simply just afraid to miss out if we do. The next time something comes up that makes you question whether or not it’s worth your time or your energy, really think it through and ask yourself if it’s right for you at that present time. Don’t be afraid to say no if it means bettering your personal growth journey.
Don’t Try To Please Everyone
This one goes with the one above. You can’t spend your whole life trying to please everyone. There’s just not enough time or energy for that. What happens when you try to please everyone is you begin to spread yourself too thin, thus resulting in possible burn-out. You can still be a good person while choosing to step back and not trying to please everyone, all the time.

Take Time For You And Your Self-Care
If there’s one thing I talk about most on this blog, it’s the importance of your self-care (take the self-care challenge here!) To me, self-care should be a priority rather than something you do “when there’s time for it”. It’s during our times of tranquility and relaxation where we start to discover who we really are and by taking good care of ourselves, we create clarity in our mind and soul for what truly matters in life.
Focus On Your Goals
Goals are important. They set up our minds to focus on achieving something that is important to us. And once you achieve your goal, you feel that sense of accomplishment and growth in your life.
Stop Procrastinating What’s Important
Personal growth comes with self-discipline. You have to push yourself to show up for yourself more and that includes ending the procrastination on what’s important. If you’re still not finished that project you meant to do a month ago but feel it weighing on your mind every day, you need to finish it. Whether it’s an important project you haven’t finished, an appointment that needs to be made, a conversation that needs to be had, stop procrastinating. You will feel so much lighter by just doing what needs to get done, rather than pushing it to the back of your brain and allowing it to pile up.

Find A Hobby That Brings You Bliss
Hobbies are super important. They’re those special things in your life that occupy your brain with what makes you happy and keeps you in a present state of mind. Whether you have a hobby in crocheting, cooking, mountain biking, hiking, photography (the possibilities are truly endless), find something that makes your soul happy.
Be Kind To Yourself
Be kind and be patient with yourself. Personal growth is a constant journey and is filled with ups and downs. Allow yourself to feel all the waves of life and know that you might not always feel okay and that’s perfectly okay. As long as you’re trying your best in the moment and looking forward, that’s what counts. Show yourself some love and support.
Be Grateful For What You Already Have
Gratitude is an amazing practice to adapt in life. It allows you to be thankful for what you have even when you are feeling at your worst. Something you need to remember with personal growth and your journey in life is that things won’t always come easy. With that said though, if you allow yourself to be grateful for the good things you already have, you will also open your mind to the possibilities of many more great things to flow into your life. The truest joys in life come from the simple things.
Work Hard And Stay Humble
The life you crave for yourself is in your power. You just have to find it within you to focus on it, work hard and remain humble and true to yourself along the way. You are capable of many great things.
