Do you wake up each morning feeling rushed and overall just really stressed out/pressed for time? Do you maybe tend to push that snooze button a bit too often, ignoring the fact that those extra 15 minutes could be better used to accomplish a healthy morning routine? Do you rush out the door feeling sluggish and already annoyed with the day?
If the answers are yes to any of the above, I get it, I’ve been there.
I used to think those extra 15 minutes of snoozing was better than just getting out of bed and taking my morning more slow. But then as I grew, I started realizing the value of a healthy morning routine and it’s positive effects it can have on my physical and mental wellbeing.
A healthy morning routine can be such a positive pivotal point to your daily life. Your morning routine is essentially what sets the tone for your day; whether it’s going to be a stressful, unproductive day or a balanced and proactive one. By adapting a healthy morning routine, you will be amazed at how much extra time, less stress and more productivity you will allow into your daily life.
The Benefits To Your Daily Life
More Balance/Structure
Think about the mornings when you wake up in a hurry. You probably snoozed through your alarm, which makes you pressed for time but you still have to get ready for the day, brush your teeth, pack yourself a lunch and grab yourself some breakfast. You’re then rushing out the door, maybe you hit some traffic and before you know it, you’re already stressed out for the day and it’s only just started. Now, I know, sometimes sleeping in is an accident. But if this scenario sounds like a common theme in your life, it’s probably safe to say it’s just become a part of your regular morning routine. By setting your alarm a bit earlier, waking up on time and allowing yourself to actually enjoy your morning rush-free, you can take control of your mornings and create a more balanced lifestyle.
Less Stress
By taking control of your morning, you are setting the pace and tone for your day. You are no longer unnecessarily feeling rushed, you’ve had enough time to eat a healthy breakfast and properly brush your teeth and even if you do hit a bit of traffic, you’re fine, because you’ve given yourself enough time to get to work without feeling crunched for time. By creating a healthy morning routine, you’ve not only given yourself more time to enjoy your mornings, but you’ve also eliminated the overwhelm and the stress before your work day even begins. You will see that your energy will not only feel greater but also more positive as well.
Increased Productivity
Now that you’ve been waking up earlier, you not only have a more balanced and less stressful morning, but you’ve also created space to be more productive. The extra minutes you give yourself in the morning to create more space and sense of calm will also be a time to feel more productive. That doesn’t necessarily mean to fill up all that extra time with replying to emails or creating a morning routine that makes you feel rushed, but it simply implies that you now have that extra time to do the things you see fit and apply them to your healthy morning routine. Maybe for you this means being able to sit down with a cup of coffee and read for a few minutes, or maybe it’s doing a nice, calm yoga flow to get your body moving. Whatever it is you desire, you now have the time to do it.
Accomplish Your Goals
Starting the day on the right foot opens up many different doors as we discussed above. But it can also help you accomplish those goals you’ve been chasing. The extra time and productivity that you begin to adapt through your morning routine will help you focus and achieve your goals. You’ll have more time to focus on the goals you want to accomplish as well as the positive and productive energy to do so.
The Benefits To Your Well-Being
Healthier Stress Levels
A healthy morning routine will contribute to lower stress levels. By giving yourself more time to enjoy and embrace a calm morning routine, you can start your day feeling refreshed and calm, creating more space to tackle the things you need to get done.
Healthier Mind, Body & Soul
By setting your alarm clock a little earlier and giving yourself more time in the morning, you can incorporate things like exercise, meditation, journaling and a healthy breakfast into your morning routine. Implementing these into your morning will help get your started on the right foot for the day and can be beneficial to you overall health – mind, body and soul.
Increased Confidence
When you start taking care of your health and wellbeing, you will begin to see a positive shift in your own self-confidence. By making time for you, and prioritizing yourself, not only will it be a positive change that you will see but also others around you. Your change in lifestyle could set an example and motivate others to do the same in their lives. Seeing the positive impact your life can have on others can be a major confidence boost!
Better Quality Of Sleep
Your sleep patterns and schedules play a serious role on your overall quality of sleep. By going to bed each night and waking up at the same time every morning, you are creating an internal clock in which your body reacts in a positive way. Eventually, your body becomes accustomed to your wake schedule and thus your body becomes your own alarm clock, waking you up once it’s well rested. A better sleep increases your productivity, your mood, your energy and your focus for the day.
There are so many positive benefits to a healthy morning routine. Just by setting your alarm a little earlier, by creating that space for just a little more time to enjoy your morning, you can see remarkable changes to your day-to-day life, and your overall health.
Take time for you, take care of yourself, and challenge yourself to create a healthy morning routine that works for you!
